Actor Dino Morea is once again in the news regarding the Mithi river cleaning scam. On Friday, October 2, Dino Morea reached the Mumbai Police Commissioner’s office, where he is being interrogated in connection with the alleged Mithi River desilting scam. The matter is being investigated by the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW). Earlier, the actor had appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in connection with this scam. The case has primarily been registered by the EOW branch of Mumbai Police, alleging fraud, influencing contracts and colluding with contractors, causing a loss of around Rs 65 crore to BMC.
What is Mithi River Scam and how is Dino Morea involved in it?
Talking about the Mithi River scam, there is a case of alleged financial irregularities and corruption of about Rs 65 crore in the name of cleaning and desilting of Mumbai’s Mithi River for flood prevention and drainage in Mumbai. Moriya’s name has come up in the investigation into his alleged links with contractors and officials on suspicion of misusing funds received for cleaning the Mithi River. According to an ANI report, in 2025, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had conducted searches at 15 places in Mumbai and Kochi as part of its investigation into the case, which included Moriya’s house.
The project was started after the floods in Mumbai in 2005.
The project to desilt Mithi River was started after the terrible floods in Mumbai in 2005. Mithi River Cleaning Project was started in collaboration with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and other civic agencies. The objective of this project was to remove debris and maintain the river bed to improve flood management. Later in the investigation, questions were raised on the work done under this project. There was reportedly a discrepancy between the desilting work shown on records and the actual work completed, raising questions over the utilization of funds for the project.
Dino Morea’s name also came up in Disha Salian case.
On the other hand, Morea’s role is also being investigated in the ongoing investigation of Disha Salian’s death. The Bombay High Court had ordered a fresh investigation into the case on September 2, 2026. After this, after receiving the statement of Salian’s father Satish Salian, CBI registered an FIR on 14 September. Satish has alleged that his daughter (Disha Salian) was gang-raped and murdered. According to reports, Satish Salian’s statement also names Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi and his bodyguards as well as Rohan Roy, Rhea Chakraborty, Parambir Singh, Sachin Waje and others.

Satish Salian said while talking to ANI recently, ‘My daughter should be given a clean bill. Its culprits should be punished as per law. Just as they took away my daughter’s respect, their respect will also be taken away. He should get either life imprisonment or death sentence.” He also said, ‘I told the authorities the names of those who had committed this crime. I gave all the information and also recorded my statement. I gave the names of Aditya Thackeray, Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi and their bodyguards, and also took the names of Parambir Singh, Rhea Chakraborty, Sachin Waje and many others who were involved in it. I handed over all this information to them.’ Recently, Aditya Thackeray had reacted to the allegations against him. He said that he neither knew Disha Salian nor had ever met her.
