Muzaffarpur Double Murder: Man Allegedly Killed Woman and Her 6-Year-Old Son to Hide Crime, Police Reveal Chilling Motive

Main Accused Arrested as Police Recover Child’s Body 10 Days After Woman’s Murder

Police in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, have solved the shocking double murder of a woman and her six-year-old son, revealing what investigators describe as a crime driven by a personal relationship and fear of being exposed.

According to police, the main accused, Vikas Paswan, has been arrested. Based on information provided during interrogation, officers recovered the body of six-year-old Aryan Kumar, nearly 10 days after his mother’s body was found.

Woman Allegedly Murdered Following Dispute

Police said the incident took place on July 23, when Vikas Paswan allegedly called Manju Devi to an orchard.

Investigators believe an argument broke out between the two over their relationship, after which the accused allegedly killed the woman.

According to police, Manju’s six-year-old son Aryan was present at the scene during the incident.

Child Allegedly Killed to Eliminate Witness

Police allege that after the woman was killed, the accused feared the child could reveal what had happened.

Investigators say Aryan was then allegedly murdered, and both bodies were hidden separately in bushes inside the orchard.

Manju Devi’s body was recovered on July 27. Nearly ten days later, villagers noticed a foul smell coming from bushes about 100 metres away and informed police. A search led to the recovery of the child’s decomposed body.

Evidence Leads Police to the Accused

Following the recovery of Aryan’s body, police expanded their investigation.

According to Rural SP Rajesh Singh Prabhakar, investigators recovered blood-stained clothes, the child’s slipper, and other important evidence from the crime scene.

Police combined technical evidence with local intelligence, which eventually led investigators to Vikas Paswan.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed the location of the child’s body. Police also recovered the victim’s mobile phone and a plastic bottle containing a green liquid, both of which have been seized for forensic examination.

Investigation Focuses on Relationship Angle

Preliminary investigations suggest that Manju Devi and Vikas Paswan had known each other since their school days.

Police said the two allegedly remained in contact for years despite both getting married separately.

According to investigators, the accused claimed he suspected Manju of having a relationship with another person, which allegedly led to the confrontation and subsequent crime.

Police believe the child’s killing was motivated by the accused’s fear that the murder would be exposed.

Forensic Examination Underway

Police have confirmed that all recovered evidence has been sent for Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) examination.

Officials say scientific and forensic analysis will help strengthen the prosecution’s case and establish the sequence of events.

Five People Named in the FIR

Based on a complaint filed by Manju Devi’s father, police had already registered a case against five individuals, including Vikas Paswan.

Police also arrested Hari Paswan, the accused’s father, on allegations that he helped his son evade arrest. He has been sent to judicial custody.

Investigators said they are continuing to examine the possible involvement of other individuals. Anyone found to have participated in the crime or assisted the accused will face legal action.

Police have stated that efforts are underway to complete the investigation using scientific evidence and pursue a speedy trial.
