NTA has changed the team of 600 experts after irregularities in examinations and irregularities in question papers. Now a 4-tier checking system is being made for the new question papers.
NTA Latest Update: In view of the continuous irregularities in the National Testing Agency (NTA) examinations and complaints of mistakes in the question papers, major changes have started in the examination system. Keeping in mind the future of students and transparency of examinations, NTA has completely removed its old question paper preparing team. Under this big step, about 600 experts have been removed, who were preparing question papers of various exams for a long time.
Now a new team has been formed for paper setting. Along with this, to avoid irregularities in any future examination, arrangements are being made for 4-tier security review of question papers at least 4 levels of checking.
Why did such drastic action have to be taken?
After the UGC-NET examination held in the month of June, a huge controversy had arisen regarding the question papers of three major subjects – English, Commerce and Sociology. The students had lodged a complaint that there were such fundamental mistakes in spelling, grammar and translation in the Sociology paper that they could not be ignored.
Even the names of well-known thinkers were written wrong in the examination; Like ‘Ritzer’ was printed as ‘Putzer’, ‘Parsons’ as ‘Parsow’, ‘Ghurye’ as ‘Ghunye’ and ‘AR Desai’ as ‘AK Desai’. The students had also alleged that the Hindi translation was very poor and some questions seemed to be AI generated.
After these complaints, the special committee constituted by NTA admitted in the investigation that the basic rules were not followed in the question papers. The mistakes were so numerous that they could not be corrected merely by removing some questions from the answer key. For this reason, NTA decided to cancel the examination of these three subjects and conduct it again.
Re-test and new security system
Re-test of these three subjects of UGC NET is being organized on 9th and 10th September, in which about 1.5 lakh candidates will participate. According to NTA sources, the responsibility of preparing question papers has been handed over to a new team and it has also prepared question papers of some recent examinations.
The main objective of this internal overhaul of NTA is to win the trust of millions of students across the country and re-establish the credibility of national level examinations. With the new 4-tier testing system, it is expected that the candidates will not have to face any kind of disturbance or inconvenience in the upcoming examinations.
