IIT Campus Placement: A major reshuffle has been seen in the placement report 2026 of IIT Bhubaneswar. Electrical Engineering with 91.1% placements overtook Computer Science with 86.9%. The highest package was Rs 74.3 lakh.
IIT Bhubaneswar Placement 2026: Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) has always been the first choice of students taking admission in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Most of the students and their parents believe that CSC is the best branch in terms of placement and salary. However, the B.Tech placement report of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar for the year 2026 has completely changed these old notions. This year, Electrical Engineering branch has left Computer Science behind in terms of placement percentage.
B.Tech Placement: Highest package of Rs 74.3 lakh
According to the B.Tech placement data released on the official website of IIT Bhubaneswar, 331 B.Tech (UG) students had registered for placement this session.
Students involved in placements: 313 candidates participated in the process.
Students who got placed: A total of 267 students got job offers.
Overall Placement Percentage: The overall B.Tech placement rate of the institute was recorded at 85.30%.
Highest Domestic Package: This year, the highest domestic CTC so far has been recorded in the institute at Rs 74.3 lakh per annum.
Branch-wise placement: Who won by how much?
If we look at the branch-wise figures, the performance of Electrical Engineering has been the best.
electrical engineering: 62 out of 68 students got jobs in this branch, making its placement rate 91.1%. The highest package here was Rs 74.3 lakh annually.
Metaphysical and Materials Engineering: This branch was the second best performing branch with 89.4% placements. 17 out of 19 students got placement. The highest package was Rs 23.5 lakh.
Mechanical Engineering: The placement percentage of this branch was 88.5% with 54 students selected out of 61. The maximum package was recorded at Rs 56 lakh.
Computer Science and Engineering (CSE): CSC branch stood fourth with 86.9% placements, where 60 out of 69 students got placed. However, the highest package of Rs 74.3 lakh is also available in CSC branch.
civil engineering: 35 out of 45 students were selected in this branch (77.7% placement) and the maximum package was Rs 29.7 lakh.
Electronics and Communication (ECE): 39 out of 51 students got placed in ECE branch (76.4% placements) and the highest package was Rs 56 lakh per annum.
Top Companies and Internships
Major Multi National Companies (MNCs) like Google, Microsoft, Flipkart, Reliance Industries, Tata Steel and L&T as well as many Public Sector Companies (PSUs) like BEL, BPCL and HPCL participated in the campus placements. Additionally, pre-final year B.Tech students have also received paid internship offers in reputed companies.
