Today we are gathered here to celebrate our 80th Independence Day. The day of 15 August 1947 is written in golden letters in the history of our country. On this auspicious day we got freedom from hundreds of years of slavery. Therefore this day started being celebrated as a national festival. On this occasion there is a holiday in all schools, offices, factories and institutions. Although Independence Day is celebrated in every part of the country, but the grand and major event of the Government of India takes place at the Red Fort in Delhi. On this day, the lovely tricolor is seen everywhere proudly waving in the air with its head held high.
This year, the Government of India is also giving prominence to topics like ‘150 Years of Vande Mataram’ and ‘Yuva Shakti for Viksit Bharat@2047’ in the Independence Day events.
On this day, the Prime Minister hoists the national flag at the historic Red Fort. The national flag is given a 21-gun salute. The national anthem is sung and from the ramparts of the Red Fort, the Prime Minister addresses the entire nation including those present at the event.
