Chennai: Chennai Police has intensified its investigation into the case of granite businessman and Gem Granites chief Veeramani arrested for sexual exploitation of minor girls. Chennai Police has arrested his long-time associate Ganesan in a POCSO case related to alleged sexual exploitation of minor girls. Ganesan is the fourth accused to be arrested in this case. Police said he had worked with Veeramani’s Gem Granites for 23 years and was currently working with Balaji Global Enterprises.
Video clips found in Ganesan’s mobile
According to sources in the Central Crime Branch, which is investigating the case, Ganesan’s mobile phone had some video clips which allegedly showed Veeramani performing obscene acts with a minor girl. Police said that he had not given any information to the authorities about these videos. The CCB is now investigating how Ganesan came into possession of these clips and why he kept them without informing the police. The investigators are also examining his mobile phone to find out if any data was deleted.
Videos found with minor girl
Veeramani and his two alleged associates were arrested on August 29 after a case was registered by the Anti-Vice Squad (AVS) for the alleged rape of minor girls. After this the three accused were sent to Puzhal Central Jail. Police said the matter came to light when a USB drive was found containing a video clip. In this clip, Veermani was allegedly seen sexually exploiting a minor girl. Investigators identified the victim and confirmed that she was a minor when the alleged crime occurred in 2019.
The victim made shocking revelations during interrogation
This case was closed but on the instructions of the court, the investigation started again and the police found the victim and her statement was recorded. During the interrogation of the victim, shocking information came to light that she was not the only victim of Veermani but there were at least 10 more such girls. Now in this case, Chennai Central Crime Branch Police has issued summons to Assistant Commissioner Yasmin and Anti-Vice Squad Inspectors Mahesh Kumar and Rajalakshmi. These officers had earlier investigated this case and closed it.
