‘Good news’ for crores of BSNL users, 2 lakh new 4G towers will be installed, government made big preparations

BSNL has launched 4G service simultaneously across India only last year. The government telecom company had installed about 1 lakh new 4G/5G mobile towers for this. Now the company is going to install 2 lakh new 4G mobile towers. After their installation, BSNL users will not face problems like call drop and no network. About 9 crore BSNL users of the country are going to benefit from this.

2 lakh new towers will be built

Apart from this, BSNL is also preparing to launch 5G service. The new 4G mobile towers of the government telecom company are 5G ready, due to which people will start getting the benefits of 5G service as soon as the service is launched. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) told the Parliamentary Committee on Communications and Information Technology that Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is going to install 2 lakh new 4G mobile towers. An integrated customer support system will also be created for this.

According to the Department of Telecommunications, the government aims to extend BSNL’s service to 98% of the country’s population. For this, BSNL is preparing to invest about Rs 77,000 crore in the next 5 years. DoT said that it has been proposed to provide additional assistance of Rs 21,588 crore to the company for the financial year 2027. This amount is different from the Rs 77,000 crore plan.

5G service will be launched soon

By April 2026, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has installed 1,05,290 indigenous 4G towers in the country. The Department of Telecommunications says that in future they will be upgraded to 5G. The company has also informed that BSNL has started 5G service in Delhi Telecom Circle. However, it has not been launched commercially yet.

There is a possibility of increase in the number of users after the installation of new towers of BSNL. This will also increase the company’s average revenue per user i.e. ARPU. According to the recent TRAI report, BSNL has added thousands of new users to its network in the month of June. According to TRAI’s data of Indian telecom users in the month of June, the total number of telephone users has increased to 1,348 million i.e. close to 134.8 crores. At the same time, India’s overall teledensity has also increased to 94.31 percent. This means that telecom service has been extended to more than 94% of the country.
