Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday targeted Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju over the action of Delhi Police during the student protests at Jantar Mantar. He accused the government of ignoring the injuries caused during the protests. In fact, Union Minister Rijiju has defended the way Delhi Police handled the student protests in an interview. He has praised Delhi Police for successfully handling the major student protests without any death or serious injury, but Rahul Gandhi raised questions on Rijiju for praising Delhi Police.
Kiren Rijiju has said in the interview, ‘No one got hurt, no one’s bone was broken. Not a single protester is hospitalized with serious injuries. If we look at the scale of this movement, thousands of people participated and many criminals also entered in the guise of students. Apart from this, more than half of the people, whether they were from Aam Aadmi Party, tambourine playing protesters, Bhim Army or Samajwadi Party, came there and instigated others for violence. Still, no one died.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju attacked Congress
He alleged that ‘if such a movement had happened during the Congress era and there were many such movements in which thousands of people died, then Delhi Police and administration should be praised that they handled such a huge protest without any serious injury. During the Congress era, thousands of people died due to firing. The Delhi administration did not use even a single lathi charge during the protests; they were stopped only when they forcibly started moving towards the Parliament. No one died. The police should be praised.
Ministers of Modi government are saying that Delhi Police should be praised.
Half a kilometer away from the Parliament, pellet guns were fired on peaceful students, sticks studded with nails were fired, a child lost his eye and a girl’s ear was cut. Should this barbarity be praised?
I myself have met those injured children. https://t.co/LELgwxuQcE

Rahul targeted the government
Now Rahul Gandhi targeted Kiren Rijiju and the Central Government regarding this. He has written in a post on social media platform X (Twitter), ‘Modi government ministers are saying that Delhi Police should be praised. Half a kilometer away from the Parliament, pellet guns were fired on peaceful students, sticks studded with nails were fired, a child lost his eye and a girl’s ear was cut. Should this barbarity be praised? I myself have met those injured children. The country has seen thousands of videos.
Rahul Gandhi said that the basic mantra of this government is untruth and violence. First use sticks on the children, then say that nothing happened. He also criticized the response of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the protests.
