Police have arrested a 28-year-old AC technician in Doddaballapur, Bengaluru, Karnataka. He is accused of being in touch with a Pakistani gang through Instagram and at the behest of the gang, he had gone to Kerala and Delhi for training. This arrest was made on the basis of information received from Counter Intelligence Cell and Central Intelligence Bureau officials. The accused has been identified as Syed Abu Bakar, a resident of Islampur, Doddaballapur.
According to the police, Abu Bakar was in touch with an Instagram account linked to Shehzad Bhatti’s Pakistan-based network for the last two years. This network is accused of threatening celebrities and businessmen and extorting money from them. Police said that the accused was in contact with an Instagram account named ‘Hammadmemon333’. It is alleged that he had given his Aadhar card information and used that account to communicate with the network. He came under suspicion after his activities on social media were monitored. The investigators found that he used to watch reels of gangsters associated with Pakistan and also liked them.
Went to Kerala and Delhi for training
The accused was working as an AC repair technician and also taught in a mosque in Bengaluru. The police have also alleged that he had gone to Kerala and Delhi for training at the behest of the gang members. Abu Bakar was arrested from his house in Islampur, Doddaballapur and has been taken into police custody for further questioning and investigation.
Pictures of guns found from accused’s mobile
According to reports, during the investigation, officials found pictures of guns and pistols on Abu Bakar’s mobile phone. Police also said that the accused had a keen interest in weapons. The police have confiscated his mobile phone. According to reports, a case has been registered against him under sections 113(3) and 197(2) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).
