SIM lock is a security feature available in your phone. After doing this, whenever the SIM is inserted in another phone or the phone is restarted, the SIM PIN can be asked. How to turn on SIM lock?
If you use an Android phone, then usually by going to Settings, you can find the option of SIM Lock or SIM Card Lock in the options related to Security or Privacy. Its name and location may be different in phones of different companies.
In iPhone, it can be enabled from Settings > Cellular/Mobile Service > SIM PIN option. When turning on SIM lock for the first time, you may have to enter the existing default PIN of your SIM. This PIN may differ depending on the mobile operator.

After enabling SIM lock, it is very important to remember the PIN. Entering the wrong PIN multiple times may lock the SIM and may require the PUK code to unlock it. Therefore, avoid entering the PIN again and again without knowledge.
