The first train (rake) consisting of 19 LHB coaches manufactured at Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala, Punjab is ready to be sent to Bangladesh Railways. The special thing is that many such design and technical changes have been made in these coaches, which have been included in LHB coaches for the first time. RCF Kapurthala will roll out the first rake of 19 LHB broad gauge passenger coaches for Bangladesh Railways on 12 August 2026.
This initial train prepared for Bangladesh Railway has a total of 19 LHB broad-gauge passenger coaches. It includes 3 AC sleeper coaches, 3 AC chair cars, 11 non-AC chair cars and 02 power cars. Keeping in mind the needs of passengers and special needs of Bangladesh Railway, many special changes have been made in these coaches. According to RCF, many of these design features and changes have been developed for the first time for LHB-type coaches.
It is being told that these coaches have been specially customized as per the operational and passenger requirements of Bangladesh Railways. These include many unique design features and modifications, many of which have been developed for the first time in LHB type coaches.
Features of coaches
Reclining chairs have been specially designed in these coaches. Stainless steel armrest and stainless steel footrest have been installed. Multiple reclining positions are provided for comfort. Fans have also been installed in AC coaches. Apart from this, integrated passenger-centric facilities have also been taken care of.
Railway technology will get recognition
It is being told that this consignment of ‘Made in India’ coaches will help in giving international recognition to India’s railway technology. Additionally, this may also open the way for new orders for Indian Railways coaches and technology from other countries in the future.
Cooperation in love sector will be strengthened
It is believed that this rollout will further strengthen the rail cooperation between India and Bangladesh. The successful rollout of this rake is expected to further strengthen cooperation in the railway sector between the two countries. This achievement of RCF is an important step for India towards promoting railway exports and strengthening its position in the international market.
