11 member team arrived
An 11-member Indian team of medical workers and rescue experts arrived in Nepal on Saturday to provide special technical support to the ongoing operation to rescue workers trapped or missing in the tunnels of hydropower projects following devastating floods. This team, sent on the request of Nepal Government, reached Trishuli area after conducting aerial survey of Chilime and Langtang areas. Nepal officials said the team has started assessing the situation for the rescue operation.

An 82-member joint security team of Nepal Army, Armed Police Forces and Nepal Police launched the operation on Friday night to reach the people trapped in the tunnel of Trishuli-3A hydropower project located in Rasuwa district near the Nepal-Tibet border and remove debris. The rescue operation is facing difficulties due to accumulation of mud and debris at the entrance of the tunnel and bad weather. According to Nepal Army, Nepali security forces have so far safely evacuated 191 workers from the tunnels of various hydropower projects.
Severe floods that hit Rasuwa and other parts of central Nepal on Wednesday have killed more than 500 people and caused massive damage to human settlements, roads, bridges and hydropower infrastructure. Nepal had requested India and China for help in building 42 ‘bailey bridges’ to resume transport services in flood-affected areas.
