Udhayanidhi Stalin Faces Fresh Backlash Over Rally Comment as TVK Calls It “Shameful” and BJP Seeks Legal Action
A fresh political controversy has erupted in Tamil Nadu after Udhayanidhi Stalin, senior DMK leader and son of former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, made a controversial remark during a public rally in Thanjavur. His comments, delivered while speaking on the Cauvery water dispute, have triggered strong reactions from political rivals, with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launching sharp criticism.
The incident has intensified the political confrontation between the ruling DMK and opposition parties ahead of key political developments in the state.
How Did the Controversy Begin?
The controversy began during Udhayanidhi Stalin’s speech in Thanjavur, where he was criticizing Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. During the address, some members of the audience reportedly started chanting the name of a well-known Tamil actress.
According to the source, Udhayanidhi briefly paused, smiled, and responded with a double-meaning remark, which immediately sparked criticism and political outrage.
TVK Condemns the Statement
Reacting strongly to the remark, TVK MLA Revanth Charan described Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comment as extremely shameful and unacceptable.
He said that using such offensive language against anyone reflects a poor political culture and exposes a degrading mindset. TVK accused the DMK leader of lowering the standard of public discourse.
BJP Demands Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Arrest
The Tamil Nadu BJP also strongly condemned the statement.
State BJP chief spokesperson Narayanan Thirupathy called the remark obscene, indecent, and offensive to public sentiments. He demanded that Udhayanidhi Stalin be immediately arrested and sent to jail for making such a statement.
Several other BJP leaders also criticized the DMK leader.
BJP leader Vinoj P. Selvam said it was surprising that a former actor like Udhayanidhi would use disrespectful language toward fellow artists. He also urged the South Indian Artistes’ Association to publicly condemn the remark.
Political Tensions Continue
This is not the first time Udhayanidhi Stalin has found himself at the center of controversy over his public statements. According to the source, he has faced criticism on several previous occasions as well.
The latest controversy has once again heated up Tamil Nadu’s political atmosphere, with opposition parties demanding accountability and stronger action over the alleged remark.
