Petition in Supreme Court against conducting NEET-PG again
A new petition filed in the Supreme Court has challenged the decision of NBEMS to re-conduct NEET-PG 2026 for about two and a half thousand (2,500) students who could not appear in the main examination due to various reasons.
Main arguments of the petitioner: The petition said that conducting separate re-examination for some selected students is a clear violation of several historical decisions of the Supreme Court and the rules of fairness of examination.
Court’s response: When the matter was urged to be heard immediately before the bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V. Mohana, the bench clarified that all the main matters related to NEET were already being heard by Justice P.S. A bench headed by Narasimha is doing it. Therefore, instructions were given to mention this new petition also before the same bench.
Plea of accused Dhananjay Lokhande rejected in NEET-UG paper leak case
On the other hand, a big order came during the hearing related to the NEET-UG paper leak case in the special CBI court located at Rouse Avenue, Delhi.
What was the demand of the accused?
Dhananjay Lokhande, accused in the case, had filed an application in the court seeking direction to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to present before the court the material sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) and the detailed investigation report related to it.
Court’s decision: After hearing the arguments and objections of the CBI lawyers and the side of the accused, the special CBI judge completely rejected Lokhande’s application. This strict stance of the court has further strengthened the position of CBI investigating the paper leak case.
