Washington: US MP Raja Krishnamurthy has strongly condemned the knife attack on a Sikh truck driver at a rest stop in Wyoming, America. He said that the hatred targeting people of Sikh and South Asian origin in America is a matter of concern. Krishnamurthy said in a post on social media platform He demanded action against those spreading hatred and violence.
Questions also raised on DHS’s social media posts
The US lawmaker also referred to a recent social media post by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) along with this incident. According to Krishnamurthy, in this post such a picture of a Sikh truck driver was presented, which he described as racial and objectionable. He appealed to the people to unite against hatred and violence. Krishnamurthy said,
‘Those who are spreading this hatred have to stop. This also includes officials of our own federal government. Those who turn this hatred into violence must be held accountable. America should be better than this.
‘Wished for the recovery of the injured truck driver’
Krishnamurthy expressed support for the injured truck driver and wished for his speedy and complete recovery. He also thanked the family whose immediate help helped save the driver’s life. Krishnamurthy said,
‘I am praying for Mr Singh’s complete recovery.’
There is also mention of the murder of an Indian origin woman in Sacramento.
Krishnamurthy’s statement comes at a time when a few days ago, a woman of Indian origin was shot dead in Sacramento, California. According to US officials, the accused was a resident of India and he had allegedly been stalking the woman for several months. According to DHS, the incident occurred on September 8 at a shopping center. The accused has been identified as Rohit. He shot 38-year-old Shalini Thakur near her car. Shalini had tried to run away. After the incident, Rohit ran away from there and later committed suicide by shooting himself.
Accused of stalking Shalini since January
According to local reports, the accused was allegedly stalking Shalini Thakur since January 2026. Reports said that Shalini had found an ‘Apple AirTag’ under her car. Apart from this, the accused is also accused of deflating the tires of his car and following him while going to work. According to officials, the accused had allegedly obtained a copy of Shalini’s apartment key and broke into her house while she was sleeping. Shalini had obtained a ‘restraining order’ against the accused in May. However, according to reports, the alleged stalking continued until July.
How did the accused reach America?
According to DHS, the accused entered the US through Arizona in 2023. Earlier, the American Border Patrol had also caught him, but he was later released. However, the immigration status of the accused and other legal details related to the case are still subject to official records and investigation.
