Army Chief General Dheeraj Seth’s visit to Nepal is very important in many ways. After the formation of the new government in Nepal, the demand for recruitment of Gorkhas in the Indian Army is gaining momentum. It is believed that there can be fresh talks on this issue which has been pending for the last four years. General Dheeraj Seth is going to receive the honorary title of General from the Nepalese Army as per tradition, but during this he will meet the Nepalese Army Chief and top leadership. It is understood that during this time there will also be discussion on recruitment of Nepali Gorkhas under Agniveer Scheme. He will also address the rally of ex-servicemen.
Nepal had denied
When the Agneepath scheme was launched in the year 2022, Nepal had refused to recruit Gorkhas. The argument behind this was that by changing the rules of army recruitment, India had violated the tripartite agreement between Nepal, India and Britain. After this, two recruitment centers of the Indian Army in Nepal were also closed. Meanwhile, former Gorkha soldiers of the Indian Army have raised the demand that Nepali youth should be included in the Agneepath scheme.
