In a special conversation with news agency INS, Sharmila Tagore said, “My point of view is that here (India) there are people of many religions who believe in one God. Not in many Gods. The verses of Vande Mataram worship many Gods. If you read it, you will come to know that all Gods are mentioned in it. It is difficult for those who believe in one religion to say Vande Kali, Vande Durga, Vande…difficult.” So, if we take all the religions in India together, then the first two verses are very good.
