‘Homecoming’ of rebel TMC MLA, Qasim Siddiqui returned to Mamata’s camp, said – we are with Didi and will remain so

TMC rebels have started returning home again. The first name in this is that of TMC MLA Qasim Siddiqui from Amdanga, North 24 Parganas. Qasim had rebelled a few months ago and joined opposition leader Ritabrata Banerjee’s group. But now he has again announced his return to Mamata Banerjee’s camp. Qasim says that he is with Didi and will always be. They were deceived.

Regarding the decision to leave the Ritabrata group, Qasim said that he was told that this group would run under the leadership of Banerjee. But later he realized that there was no mention of ‘Didi’ in its functioning. Qasim said that we were asked to sign the document and were also told that the signature would reach Didi.

We were, are and will always be with Didi – Qasim

TMC MLA Qasim further said, when we went there there was no mention of Didi. She is my sister. Who is Ritabrata? I know sister. She (Ritabrata) had said that Didi would be above us, she had told this to everyone, so when Didi would not be there, I would also not be there. Sister is everything for us. It was he who got us the ticket and sent us to the assembly. We asked for votes with her picture and people voted for us just after seeing her, hence we were, are and will always be with Didi.

Qasim had joined TMC last year

Let us tell you that Qasim Siddiqui is known as ‘Peerzada’. He comes from the Furfura Sharif Dargah of Hooghly and has considerable influence among some sections of the Muslim community. He joined TMC last year and was later made the general secretary of the party. The party made him its candidate from Amdanga, where he won the assembly elections. His return comes amid the ongoing political tussle within TMC over the leadership of the opposition in the West Bengal Assembly.

Rebel group demanding floor test

The rebel group has challenged the Speaker’s decision on this issue and is demanding a floor test. TMC MLA Kunal Ghosh said that the Speaker’s decision was temporary and what is temporary is not permanent. TMC is ready to accept the challenge of floor test, but it should be done by secret ballot. He accused the rebel group of trying to break TMC with the alleged support of the state government. We are repeatedly talking about floor test but we accept the challenge.
