Punjab National Bank (PNB), one of the largest government banks in the country, is offering excellent interest to its customers on FDs with tenure ranging from 7 days to 10 years. How much interest for general customers on 1 year FD?
For customers below 60 years of age, the interest rate applicable on PNB’s 1 year FD is 6.25% per annum. That is, if a normal customer deposits an amount of less than Rs 3 crore in FD for 1 year, then he will get interest at the rate of 6.25%. At the same time, senior citizens get more interest on FD of the same period. For customers 60 years of age or older, the rate is 6.75%.
80 year olds will get the highest interest
PNB is offering 7.05% interest on 1 year FD to super senior citizens i.e. customers aged 80 years or above. In this way, the return on FD also increases with increase in age.

0.50% additional interest to senior citizens
PNB gives 0.50 percent more interest on FD to senior citizens than general customers. Whereas Super Senior Citizens get 0.30 percent extra interest at the rate of senior citizens.
The last change took place in June
PNB last revised its FD interest rates on June 1, 2026. The bank is currently offering interest ranging from 3.00% to 7.40% on FDs of different tenures.
