Meanwhile, government oil marketing companies have released fuel rates today on September 15. There has been no change in the rates of petrol and diesel.

Despite this, just changing the city is making a big difference in the price of petrol and diesel. In a single day, there is a difference of about Rs 30 per liter in the price of petrol in different cities, while there is a difference of up to Rs 21.50 per liter in diesel.

Petrol and diesel rates in Jaipur, Patna and Lucknow

If we talk about the capitals of the states, there is a considerable difference in prices also. Petrol in Jaipur is Rs 112.66 and diesel is Rs 97.78 per liter. In Patna, the capital of Bihar, petrol is being sold at Rs 112.70 and diesel at Rs 99.87 per liter.

Whereas in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, petrol is priced at Rs 102.05 and diesel at Rs 99.28 per litre. That means petrol in Lucknow is much cheaper than Jaipur and Patna, while the price of diesel is almost at the same level.

In Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, petrol is priced at Rs 114.65 and diesel at Rs 99.74 per litre. That means buying petrol in Bhopal is much heavier on the pocket compared to Delhi.

Why is there such a big difference?

The price of petrol and diesel is not the same across the country. Apart from central tax, VAT, local tax and other charges of state governments also play an important role in determining the price. Apart from this, prices may vary from city to city due to changes in the prices of oil companies and local level charges. This is the reason why the difference in prices of petrol and diesel in the country sometimes reaches Rs 20 to Rs 30 per liter.
