There is important news of relief for lakhs of investors waiting for the refund of money stuck in four cooperative societies of Sahara Group. The Central Government has reactivated the CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal. With this, investigation and processing of about 20 lakh claims which were pending for a long time has started again. According to the portal, refund up to ₹10 lakh is being given on verified and eligible claims. Earlier its limit was only up to ₹ 50,000.
Rs 9,267 crore refunded
According to the Ministry of Cooperation, so far around Rs 9,267 crore has been returned to more than 41.56 lakh depositors. This amount has been sent to the bank accounts linked to Aadhaar. Now the process of giving refunds to eligible investors is being taken forward after examining the pending applications.
Why was the refund process stopped?
According to the government, claim processing was affected after November 2025 due to some problems related to the portal’s IT infrastructure, license, hardware, AMC and employees. Now these technical and administrative hurdles have been removed and the portal has been restored.
Will the money come in 45 days?
In the refund system, there is a provision to complete the payment process generally within 45 days after the completion of the eligible claim, but this does not mean that the money is certain to come into the account within 45 days of applying.
First there is verification of Aadhaar e-KYC, bank account information, membership/deposit records and records of the concerned cooperative society. If any kind of deficiency is found, the claim may get stuck.
What to do if the claim is rejected or in deficiency?
The facility of Resubmission Portal is available for those investors whose applications have deficiencies. Such investors should rectify the deficiencies and re-submit their claims.
Keep in mind that do not give OTP, bank details or other sensitive information to any unauthorized person or website in the name of refund. Use only official portal for application and status.
The process will continue till 31 December 2026
After the permission of the Supreme Court, the deadline for giving refunds to the depositors of Sahara Societies has been extended till 31 December 2026. In such a situation, processing and payment of pending claims will be important in the coming months.
