Shahrukh, who traveled from TV to Bollywood, started his film career with ‘Deewana’, which was a hit.
There are many such stars in Bollywood, whose debut film itself changed their fortunes. These stars became stars overnight from their very first film. But there are many stars who are living a life of anonymity even after their superhit debut. The 90s were the most turbulent time in Bollywood. During this period, the young generation of actors like Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar were competing to be at the forefront. In this period, there was also an actor whose one refusal changed the fate of Shahrukh Khan. ‘Deewana’ was offered to someone else before Shahrukh, but he rejected it. This was the biggest mistake of his career. Shahrukh became a star after its release. Let us know who is that actor?
‘Deewana’ was a blockbuster
The film ‘Deewana’, released in 1992, was a blockbuster movie. With this film, Shahrukh Khan debuted in Bollywood as a lead actor. Veteran stars like Rishi Kapoor, Amrish Puri were with him in the film. Divya Bharti was with Shahrukh as the lead actress. The songs of the film were also superhit, which are liked even today.
She was offered before Shahrukh
Shahrukh Khan was not the makers’ first choice for the film ‘Deewana’. Before him, ‘Deewana’ actor and Bigg Boss 7 fame Armaan Kohli was offered. Actually, when Armaan was offered ‘Deewana’, his father filmmaker Rajkumar Kohli wanted his film ‘Varodhi’ to be released first. For this reason, he refused to do ‘Deewana’ and the makers removed him and that role went to Shahrukh Khan. ‘Deewana’ was a huge hit and started Shahrukh Khan’s career.
Armaan Kohli’s film career
Armaan Kohli is the son of filmmaker Rajkumar Kohli and actress Nishi. Armaan started his career as a child actor in his father’s films such as Badle Ki Agni (1982) and Raaj Tilak (1984). After this he debuted as a lead actor with Virodhi (1992), directed by his father. Apart from this, he worked in many other films like Dushman Zamana (1992), Anaam (1992), and Aulad Ke Dushman (1993), but these films of Armaan were not successful at the box office.
Don’t regret leaving ‘Deewana’
In the year 2015, Armaan Kohli gave his interview to Bollywood Hungama. During this, he was asked whether he looks back and thinks that if he had done ‘Deewana’, life would have been different. On this the actor had said, ‘If we start thinking about the past and what we could have done, our life will become hell. So generally I don’t sit back and regret and think, ‘Oh, I should have done that, if I had done that then this would have happened’. I wish I had thought of that. I would definitely rather be somewhere else. But, as I said, no regrets. If I lost Deewana, Mr. Shahrukh Khan got Deewana, and he is the superstar of the country. I have no problem with it.
Shahrukh had said- I became a star because of Armaan
Let us tell you that in the year 2016, in the show ‘Yaaron Ki Baaraat’, Shahrukh Khan himself admitted that his career was made because of Armaan. The actor had said on the show, ‘I became a star because of Armaan Kohli. He was seen on the poster of Deewana with late Divya Bharti. I still have that poster. Thank you for making me a star.
