There have been many teachers in the country who gave a new direction to millions of students through their hard work, different teaching methods and dedication towards education. These include names like HC Verma, Anand Kumar, RK Srivastava, Khan sir and SR Ranganathan. Some explained difficult subjects in easy language while some gave opportunity to financially weak students to prepare for competitive examinations. At the same time, some teachers took education beyond books and classrooms and worked to impart knowledge to the common people.
HC Verma made physics easy
The name of Dr. Harish Chandra Verma i.e. HC Verma is quite well known in the field of physics. Professor Verma, associated with Darbhanga, Bihar, was a teacher at IIT Kanpur for a long time. His book Concepts of Physics has been very popular among students preparing for engineering entrance exams. This book helped students in understanding difficult physics concepts. In view of his contribution in the field of education and science, he was awarded Padma Shri in the year 2021.
Anand Kumar showed the path to IIT to poor students
Anand Kumar of Bihar created a distinct identity in the field of education through Super 30. He made financially weak but talented students prepare for engineering entrance exams. Here students got the opportunity for better preparation despite less resources. Due to his efforts, many students made it to prestigious institutions like IIT. A film was also made on the story of Anand Kumar, after which his recognition increased in the country as well as abroad. He has received many honors for his work in the field of education.
RK Srivastava made a record by teaching for Rs 1
Maths teacher RK Srivastava of Patna tried to take education to as many students as possible. He took the initiative to teach by taking only one rupee Guru Dakshina. It is said about him that with his help more than 950 students became engineers. President Draupadi Murmu honored him at Rashtrapati Bhavan for his efforts towards education. His name is also recorded in the World Book of Records and India Book of Records. Helping students regardless of their financial status became his identity.
Khan Sir explained the topics of competitive examination in easy language.
Khan Sir’s name is quite famous among the teachers who prepare for competitive exams. His original name is said to be Faizal Khan and he belongs to Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh. He studied BSc and MSc in Science from Allahabad University and did MA in Geography. When he started teaching in Patna, there were only six students in his class. Later he started teaching online through Khan GS Research Center in 2019. His style of teaching with simple language and interesting examples made him popular among students.
SR Ranganathan gave new direction to libraries in India
Professor Dr. SR Ranganathan is considered the father of library science in India. He was born on 9 August 1892 in Shiyali, Tamil Nadu. He started his career as a mathematics teacher and later did important work in the field of library. In 1924, he was made the librarian of Madras University. He stressed on making libraries more useful and reader-centric. In 1931, he gave five rules of library science. He also developed the colon classification system, which made it easier to organize books. For his contribution, the Government of India honored him with Padma Shri in 1957.
