Assam Flood: Floods in Assam have made life difficult for thousands of families. Amidst this devastation, Jorhat’s karate player Janmoni Konwar (17) has achieved such an achievement, which is encouraging even in difficult circumstances. His family has been living under a tarpaulin on the embankment since July 19 after their house was submerged in the flood. Meanwhile, Janmoni returned home after winning the gold medal in the National Karate Championship held in Delhi. Even though he did not have a permanent house to live in, he definitely had the gold medal of the country-level competition in his hand.
Janmoni’s house drowned in flood
Janmoni’s house in No. 2 Mojia Bheti area of Bhogdoiporia village of Jorhat district got hit by floods. The family had to leave their house and take shelter on the embankment. The family has been living under a tarpaulin since July 19. The goods present in the house and everyday life have been completely affected due to the flood. In such circumstances, it was not easy for Janmoni to go to Delhi and participate in the competition, but despite the difficult circumstances, she did not give up her practice and goal.
Won gold medal in Delhi
Janmoni participated in the National Karate Championship held at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi from 7 to 9 August. He performed brilliantly in the Ashihara Karate Competition and won the gold medal. A total of four players from Assam participated in this competition. Returned to the tarpaulin house, gold in hand
When Janmoni returned to her family on the evening of 9 August, there was no big house or facilities available to welcome her. The family is still living under the same tarpaulin, which has been their home for many days. There was neither a room of one’s own, nor a bed, nor a cupboard to keep one’s belongings, but Janmoni returned with an achievement that brought happiness to the face of the family during this difficult time. He had a shining gold medal in his hand.
Spirit did not break even amidst flood
Janmoni’s story shows that difficult circumstances cannot stop anyone’s dreams. While her family was struggling with the floods, Janmoni was struggling for her goals in the playground. Despite losing her home and facilities, she participated in the competition and returned after winning the gold medal.
