Another brilliant example of India’s railway technology and coach manufacturing capability has come to light. The first rake consisting of 20 LHB coaches for Bangladesh Railway is going to be ready and left from Rail Coach Factory (RCF) located in Kapurthala, Punjab. The special thing is that many such design and technical changes have been made in these coaches, which have been included in LHB coaches for the first time.
This first rake prepared for Bangladesh Railway has a total of 20 LHB broad gauge passenger coaches. These include 3 AC sleeper coaches, 3 AC chair cars, 12 non-AC chair cars and 2 power coaches. Many special changes have been made in these coaches as per the needs of the passengers and the requirements of Bangladesh Railways. According to RCF, there are many design features and modifications which have been developed for the first time in LHB type coaches.
Old partnership between India and Bangladesh
The relationship between RCF Kapurthala and Bangladesh Railway is not new. The collaboration between the two began in 2015–16, when RCF successfully supplied 120 LHB broad gauge passenger coaches to Bangladesh Railways. After this successful partnership, Bangladesh Railway once again expressed confidence in RCF. In the year 2024, a big order was given to RCF to make 200 broad gauge passenger coaches through RITES. These coaches are to be prepared in 7 different variants.
Big achievement for railways
Rollout of first rake with 20 coaches Indian Railways And is being considered an important achievement for RCF. This is not just an achievement in completing a foreign order, but also showcases India’s design, engineering and manufacturing capability. This consignment of ‘Made in India’ coaches will help in giving international recognition to India’s railway technology. Also, this may open the way for new orders for Indian Railways coaches and technology from other countries in the future.
India-Bangladesh rail cooperation will be strengthened
The successful rollout of this rake is expected to further strengthen cooperation in the railway sector between the two countries. This achievement of RCF is also an important step for India towards strengthening its place in railway exports and international market.
